Johns Island Events:

Sweet Corn Festival- Join Legare Farms in their salute to sweet corn at the Sweet Corn Festival. From live music to games, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Don't miss the fresh seasonal vegetables and a trip to visit the farm animals. The Mason Mixon Band and Rick Rio will provide live entertainment. Get here by noon for the Corn Shucking Contest. Don't forget to bring your camera for some unique family photos.

The Amateur at Kiawah Island Golf Resort- Male amateur players of all ages can contest a FLIGHTED individual stroke play golf tournament at Kiawah's world-famous Ocean Course, as well as the Gary Player-designed Cougar Point Golf Course. Participants will also enjoy an outdoor, oceanfront dinner at The Sanctuary - hospitality suites and fabulous prizes. Non-golfing partners are welcome. There's much to enjoy at the resort besides golf, including The Spa at The Sanctuary.

Harvest Fest - Families of Johns Island and the surrounding Charleston, SC metro can enjoy a day of food, games, music, dancing, and crafts at the Lowcountry Saturday, November 1 at Mullet Hall Equestrian Center within Johns Island County Park. Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission hosts the Harvest Festival, whose roots lie in the deep agricultural tradition of Johns Island.

Greater Charleston:

January- Lowcountry Oyster Festival- sponsored by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, is the World's Largest Oyster Roast. Boone Hall Plantation, Mount Pleasant.

February- Southeastern Wildlife Expo (SEWE)- For lovers of wildlife art, conservationists and outdoorsmen, the expo is a three-day celebration of nature. Attracting thousands of wildlife lovers to the area each year, SEWE hosts hundreds of exhibits, demonstrations, and events that are sure to entertain everyone.

February/March- Charleston Food and Wine Festival- In a city known for is fabulous taste in food, this world-class culinary festival showcases the talents of local and nationally-recognized Southern chefs. Seminars, food tastings, a dine-around and culinary village are highlights of the weekend.

March/April - Festival of Houses and Gardens - Tour inside and out of some of the most beautiful homes in the country. The Festival tours include the interiors and gardens of approximately 150 historic private homes in 10 of the colonial neighborhoods in downtown Charleston.

April - Flowertown Festival - Names in the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society is South Carolina's largest Arts & Crafts festival. Each spring this 3-day family oriented event is held in Azalea Park in the heart of historic Summerville, South Carolina, just a few minutes from Charleston.

April- Cooper River Bridge Run - A local tradition since 1978, the 10k run/walk draws more than 30,000 participants each year. The diversity of the crowd makes it an equally fun event to spectate if you aren't interested in participating. Music, food, drinks, and revelry continue long after the race is over.

April-Family Circle Cup- The best of the best women in the tennis world come to play at the Family Circle Cup week long tournament each year. Venus and Serena Williams, just to name a few. The ever popular and ever growing event, takes place on Daniel Island each year in the Family Circle Cup tennis center.

May- North Charleston Arts Festival - Usually held the first two weeks in May. The fabulous nine-day celebration of the arts draws over 30,000 visitors each year. Exciting entertainment is provided by over forty national, regional, and local professional performers, ethnic and cultural groups, as well as community groups.


June - Spoleto Festival USA - In late May to early June each year since 1979, the Spoleto Festival hosts artists from around the globe with astounding National and International acts of the highest caliber. This two-week festival coincides with the Piccolo Spoleto Festival each year and brings in thousands of visitors each year.

June- Piccolo Spoleto Festival- Presented by the City of Charleston's Office of Cultural Affairs, the two-week festival hosts national, regional, and local performers of a variety of disciplines including visual arts, music, dance, theatre, and comedy.


September
- The Annual Fall Candlelight Tours of Homes and Gardens- These are self-paced, self-guided walking tours with volunteer guides stationed in each house or garden. All tours are in historic districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

October/November- The Coastal Carolina Fair- The vision of the fair is to be the "cleanest, safest, most enjoyable fair anywhere' and actively trys to promote Agriculture, Industry, and Commerce. Come see all the recent improvements!

Mid November – January – The Holiday Festival of Lights on James Island - A spectacular drive through James Island Park with every mile filled with breathtaking Holiday Light exhibits.
